S3 E18: Jeni Little
Jeni Little is currently the Learning Area Leader for Performing Arts and Music Specialist at Hobsonville Point Secondary in Auckland, New Zealand. She completed a Master of Music degree in ethnomusicology and composition at Auckland University. Her thesis embodied the research about traditional music she undertook while living for six months on the islands of Atiu, Mauke and Mitiaro in the Cook Islands (1988).
Jeni is a highly respected music educator and has worked as an education consultant for the New Zealand Music Industry Commission, the Ministry of Education, and NZQA. Jeni is currently of the Program Advisory Committee for MAINZ and is the current chair of the national music subject association MENZA (Music Education NZ Aoteroa). She has taught at every level of musical development- from early childhood to tertiary levels. Through her company, Chimaera, she has published 6 educational resources used in hundreds of schools and other learning institutions throughout New Zealand and abroad.
