S3 E3: Simon Toyne & Alex Green
Simon Toyne is Executive Director of Music of the David Ross Education Trust, where he is responsible for the development of a music programme for over 13,000 chcildren across 34 state primary and secondary schools in the East Midlands. He conducts the Chapel Choir of Malcom Arnold Academy and the DRET Youth Choir, working regularly with the Gabrieli Consort, Britten Sinfonia and Nevill Holt Opera, and has developed the award-winning 'Singing School's' Programme. His work at DRET has included establishing a common music curriculum, creating a network of partner organisations, developing a team of specialist music coaches and instigating a talent development programme.
Alex Green is the Director of Music at Skegness Grammar School and Secondary Music Lead for the David Ross Education Trust. Alex has worked across numerous different education settings across the UK for the last 12 years. Alongside his work with the David Ross Education Trust, he is the Vice Chairman and Senior Musical Director of the Grimsby, Cleethorpes and District Youth Orchestra. Alex's most recent publication; Music theatre: at the crest of music education's third wave (The Curriculum Journal Vol 26) was written collaboratively with Dr. Robert Legg.
